Workshops & Trainings

Book a workshop or training series for your group!

We offer customized, live, in-person and virtual education sessions. Our experienced therapists and presenters offer workshops for parents and caregivers, child care and school teams, and other professionals and community organizations.

We empower participants with evidence-based teachings, resources, tools, and strategies so they can best support the children and youth in their care, as well as themselves as guides in the process.

We look forward to connecting with you to develop a networking and learning experience that meets your group's needs and expectations.

Topics can include:

  • child development: Learn about ages and stages of development for interaction and attachment; play; social engagement and communication; speech, language and literacy; gross and fine motor skills.

  • when development is different than expected: Explore the parent / caregiver experience when our child's development is delayed or different than expected. Learn about specific differences such as Global Developmental Delay, Autism, and ADHD, and how these differences can impact development. Explore opportunities for growth and next steps.

  • accessibility for neurodivergent (ND) children and teens: Less visible disabilities and differences are commonly unnoticed or misunderstood. ND individuals can experience limited or no access to essential health and education services, community spaces, leisure, and other activities. Service providers and organizations are invited to learn about neurodivergence, and barriers to access, inclusion, and participation for ND individuals. Participants will explore specific ways to design their spaces and provide key interaction- and communication-based supports to optimize accessibility, inclusion, and participation for all.

  • the caregiver-child guiding relationship: Learn why this first and most constant relationship is essential for your child's development and wellbeing. Explore next steps for growth in the guiding relationship.

  • self-regulation: Learn why it's important, how it develops, and how to support a child who is struggling.

  • sensory processing: Explore how the brain receives, interprets, and responds to information gathered from our internal and external senses. Learn how this can impact development, and how to support a child who is struggling.

  • behaviour: Learn why even the most challenging behaviours make sense and how to guide a child who is struggling, including how to set limits.

  • from 'get' to 'give': Our mindset is our most powerful tool. Learn why and how to make the shift from a behavioural approach to a developmental, relationship-based approach so that regulation, relationships, and skills can flourish.

  • connection and communication: Explore why these are critical for development, and how to build authentic engagement and meaningful communication with your child.

  • using visual supports: Learn why and how to use old tools in new ways. Picture symbols, visual schedules, and first/then boards can be used to support regulation, participation, and learning using a neuroaffirming, relationship-centered approach.

  • social engagement and peer relationships: Explore why a child might struggle, and how you can support them to experience meaningful social connection and friendships.

  • intrinsic motivation: Explore why it's critical for wellbeing and growth in all areas. Learn how to motivate and support your child without rewarding or adding consequences.

  • literacy: Explore how reading, spelling and handwriting skills develop, and how you can support your striving reader and writer.
